The perfect soft-boiled eggs

The simplest things can sometimes be the hardest to get right. This is a method I picked up from Delia Smith. It is pretty much fool proof.

Ingredients
Good quality fresh eggs (free range)
  1. Boil a pan of water (make sure you have a lid for the pan).  
  2. Gently place the eggs into the boiling water and cover with the lid.
  3. For the perfect soft boiled eggs set the timer for 7 minutes.
  4. Turn off the hob after one minute (thus 1 minute with the hob/gas on and 6 minutes with it off).
